[04 May 2004|03:21pm] |
So I added an ICQ business account to this thing, a biz-only measure which is transferrable to my cell. Add away, it's much better then trying to compete with my exploding pseudo-personal life on msn.
For chicago denizens who troll here, please check out the CIF this weekend!! (there is an outline in the Chicago Tribune this week). Lotsa great performers from Toronto in tow, including The Imponderables, Sandra Battaglini, and The Williamson Playboys.
More news to come regarding E3 and some upcoming events soon. As you can see, I'm finally finishing up the content now after some wonky .html adventures, all the text should be formatted and uploaded in the next 2 weeks - when I will be greeted with the next greuling phase of the launch. Spring fever is great ammunition.

Goodeven...morning? Ah, sod it.
As I curse a pox upon dreamweaver in the wee hours, I thought I’d give a little update:
As you can see, the E3 website is now up and graphically complete thanks to goman7...excluding the fact that it is in a peculiar text limbo (i.e. all Meghann’s fault). VPK’s consume more time then I originally anticipated, so all my wonderful html skills seem to be consumed in their completion. The end is looming over the horizon, but seeing only half my services listed until I get the time to upload the rest is making my eye twitch. By the end of the weekend, I’m anticipating it will be 90% finished (followed by the phun of incessant blog updates).
A few interesting projects currently grace my workstation. I am doing some promotion for the Chicago Improvisation Comedy Festival, which features a lot of my lovely Toronto co-workers from The Second City and Tim Sim’s Playhouse, most noteably Sandra Battaglini, working alongside the talents of the Chicago Alumni and the cast of Mad TV. The lovely Ms. Cynthia Gould will be staging another performance at the Renaissance Café alongside many other female performers tomorrow night at Eros Fine Arts "Night of Sirens" showcase, which I’ve been looking forward to for awhile (see flyer in my neat little collage of upcoming events below).
I’m also stoked about New Love Army gracing the stage for the first time at Clinton’s on Thursday (although I think imagejunkie outstokes me on that one). Should be a fantastic show, it’s $6.00 in the Renaissance Room where the band will be performing alongside "The Way".
Aside from that, I’ve currently set out my feelers for up-and-coming designers for a London show. Anything you may have seen emerge on the circuit as of late, provide a link and I’ll provide candy.

| The Persephone Collective Presents... |
[18 Mar 2004|04:22am] |

Fushion is a style experience where fashion, music and art unite. An exciting concept party with great beats and fashion treats loosely based on the theme of the Greek myth about Persephone's journey into Hades' Underworld and her return to the world of the living. The night showcases some of Toronto's funkiest females and female inspired artists. After hours, this interactive performance will make its way into an all night celebration.

Hope to see you there!

While your checking out www.sonicbids.com, another suggestion:
Clear Channel New Music Network
This site is free, and it's functionality is sort of like MP3.com for music industry suit and tie types. I submitted an artist in full a few months ago, and have already received quite a bit of positive feeback and reverberations from the submission. You can upload MP3's, biographies, copyright info, photographs etc. and in your profile options, select what type of industry your planning to solicit to (be it licensing, radio, management) so it may be filtered into the different subcatagories. It pretty much caters to every niche as well, so it's worth the half hour of uploads from what I've witnessed thus far.
OK, there's my do-it-yerself promotion input for the day.

| Sonicbids |
[28 Dec 2003|05:08pm] |
I just got through checking out a site that was submitted for E3 link review, that some musicians might want to investigate:
www.sonicbids.com
This is a site that allows artists to generate their own accessible EPK’s (Electronic Press Kits) for mass e-mail distribution. Quite a novel concept, and the 5 dollar subscription fee per month is much nicer then the excessive amount of mailing, printing, and manufacturing fee’s you’ll usually drain yourself from in sending out hard copy press kits.
Now if only the bulk of press actually read and investigated all direct musician and publicity inquiries, we’d be laughing. I still suggest that if your trying to solicit press independently, that you send hardcopy press materials and CD’s to your primary contacts if your plugging something other then a gig.
For the sake of curiosity, I’m going to send a client through the sonicbids ringer as a testrun through the free trial this month anyways. I’m sure if your websavvy, you could probably come up with your own EPK that would look better then the one’s generated by the site anyways.

For Immediate Release: 12/22/03
Ah....must break the stagnancy and get through this last greuling hour of work, begging me for completion before the holidays.
I guess I should mention that this supposed "holiday" only lasts me the 3 days that everything launches into temporary gridlock in the wonderful world of the entertainment/media industry. Come Boxing Day, I plan to immerse myself in a new upcoming show, more publicity work, as well as the last touches on text for the completed Empyrean 3 website, after Cubby completes the design *does greedy gimme gimme fingers*.
Workwise, if everything continues in smooth progression over the next two weeks, all ducks will be in a row for the new year for the official launch of E3, and I will begin my promotion and marketing initiatives. I'll be performing a precarious balance of all of these things, while the lovely Cynthia Gould is off on a quest of world domination in the NoMediaKings Perpetual Motion Roadshow tour of the west coast in the second week of January.
I also start publicity for another album launch that week, along with possible negotiations with a small record label for promotions. I think mid-january our little Meghann will be taking a hiatus from other activities and commitments to balance the Emprean 3 whirlwind.
I'll be posting the respective links for the Empyrean 3 website as soon as it launches. In the meantime, check out NoMediaKings website for more information on Cynthia's tour alongside some other top notch North American talent.
And Merry Giftmas ;)

| An auction by the lovely Cynthia Gould |
[01 Dec 2003|07:30pm] |

Warm Thoughts for a Chilly Morning
As a hallmark to the festive season, Toronto painter, graphic designer, writer, and spoken word artist Cynthia Gould has decided to incorporate the communal spirit of giving along with her art in support of The Daily Bread Food Bank. From December 1st through December 15th, Gould will be conducting an online auctioning of one of her original paintings, “Warm Thoughts for a Chilly Morning” to the top bidder, with all proceeds going to the aforementioned Toronto charity.
The charity sale, hosted on the artist’s website (http://www.cynthiagould.com/auction.html) is open to anyone in the Greater Toronto Area who wishes to show their support in the form of a bid, starting at $75.00. Gould, who has been donating all of her itemized Christmas shopping funds for friends and relatives to the charity for several years now, has made some collaborative dance/music/poetry show efforts in the past, to fuel donations for the local organization.
Gould, a long-time staple of the Toronto spoken word and poetry circuit, has garnered a well-established media persona in the past 5 years. Given her linguistic talents and sharp sense of wit, her television appearances and interview spotlights have included The New Music, Much On Demand, as well as being a repeat guest on TalkTV's The Chatroom. Cynthia, a web-savvy graphic designer, gained some well-publicized notoriety back in September of 2000, when she decided to broadcast her entire novel-writing antics to the world, conducting a complete webcam broadcast of the process. Her written works have been published in WORD magazine, Readers Digest, and last December she released her first book (a collaborative effort with Toronto writer Monika S. Kuebler) entitled “Some Spoken Words” through Burning Effigy Press.
Gould will be conducting her second spoken word tour with The Perpetual Motion Roadshow (http://www.nomediakings.net) along the west coast this coming January, while she continues working on her upcoming novel, “Inside The Art Machine”.
A collection of Cynthia's paintings will be on exhibit at Westwood Bar & Grill, 519 Annette Street, Toronto (near Bloor and Runnymede) this month. The show will run from December 3rd through 31st, 2003.

Decided to grace you with a better introduction than "word up yo."
Empyrean 3 is a sole-proprietorship that spawned from a few years of "jack of all trades" work in the Toronto music circiut. I (Meghann)was formally trained as a rather mainstream music industry publicist, but slowly began to alter my services while getting involved with different areas of the industry to leverage the amount of independent alternative and/or niche happenings on an international scale. This has involved both publicity and promotions of all varieties and mediums, as well as strategic project management.
Other projects are in the works, including a multimedia promotion project which has a tentative test launch of June 2004.
Currently, the Empyrean 3 Website is slated to Launch on November 30th, under development by goman7 of Reds 13.
